Dacia is a Romanian car brand, founded in 1966 and belongs to the Renault Group since 1999. Initially, the model was Dacia Renault's older models, including the Renault 12, which was built between 1969 and 2006 as the Dacia 1300. In 2004 and 2007, were put up for sale two self-developed models, the Dacia Logan and Dacia Sandero.

Although they were intended for sale in developing countries, the high demand by customers Logan in Western Europe led to Dacia to sell well in those countries. Under the supervision of Renault, these models were developed on platforms, engines and components from other Renault models, including the Renault Clio, Renault Kangoo and the Renault Twingo.

Dacia was founded in 1967 with the assistance of Renault and Dacia factory was built in 1968 primary in Colibaşi (now called Mioveni), near Pitesti.

Dacia could purchase all the tools and basic designs with the Renault 12.
