Ligier car logos and Ligier history


Ligier was founded by Guy Ligier, race car driver who has competed in 12 Grands Prix Formula 1 between 1966 and 1967. He previously established with other partners, a construction company in Vichy. Company Ligier Public Works has won numerous works contracts highways, bridges, dams and development.
In 1969 he founded his trademark intended to hire cars in Endurance. All Ligier race will be codenamed number preceded by the initials JS, in tribute to the driver Jo Schlesser, a great friend of Guy Ligier tragically disappeared during the Grand Prix de France 1968. After some success in endurance, commitment Ligier Formula 1 from the 1976 season and stayed there for nearly 20 years.
Alongside its commitment to motorsports, the car brand is known for designing cars that do not require driver's license. In 1992, Guy Ligier was gradually sold the majority and all of his shares of his team who became Prost Grand Prix in 1997.
This has not affected the rest of the activity of "Automobiles Ligier. In 2005 Ligier brand has made a return to competition with the JS49 [1] prototype race meeting the regulations of the endurance championship VdeV. Ligier has also designed a Formula 3 but the latter never appeared in the race.
