The company Morris Motor Company was a British manufacturer of automobile.

Created by William Morris in 1910 and headquartered in Oxford it first produced a two-seater buggy in 1913.

She left later models with various engine and gearbox were of U.S. origin. At the end of the First World War, she turned to include the company for the Hotchkiss engine. Producing reliable cars at prices considered, it soon became in 1925 the first British car company.

In 1928, she released an economic vehicle whose name became emblematic in England, the Morris Minor.

In 1938, the company absorbs the marks Wolseley, MG, Riley and become the Nuffield Organization. During the Second World War, it manufactures aircraft engines and tanks.

In 1948, the name Morris Minor is reassigned to a car designed by Alec Issigonis, father of the original Mini, which will be a great commercial success.

In 1952, the Nuffield Organization merged with Austin to form the British Motor Corporation (BMC).

In 1968, the consolidation of British brands gives birth to the British Leyland Motor Corporation (BLMC), then in 1975, the national company British Leyland Limited (BL).

Since that time the specificity Morris disappeared even if the current company MG Rover, which has the trademark rights.
