The first version was only available in Coupé two-seater bodywork. The manufacturer introduced in 2004, the Roadster version. This version differs from the Coupe body of the rear quite different and much higher price. The mechanical properties are identical.

Model Murciélago LP 640 was introduced at the Salon International Geneva Motor Show in March 2006. Its name refers to its engine position: LP rear longitudinal engine - Longitudinal posterior - and his power, 640 hp. His power was increased to 640 hp from 579 hp to the first generation, with an engine from 6.2 to 6.5 liters.

Like the first, the engine is mounted at the rear with the transmission in front of the engine.
