The Audi RSQ is a concept car created specifically for the German automaker Audi for the sci-fi I Robot. This is the interpretation of the automobile of the 2030s by designer Martin Ertl. The concept was presented publicly for the first time at the New York International Auto Show, April 7, 2004.

Design

The director of the film I, Robot, Alex Proyas, was very impressed by the concept-car Audi Nuvolari Quattro, introduced in 2003. For the purpose of his film, he decided to call Audi to make the car in which actor Will Smith will play. In April 2003, Tim Miksche, product manager, and Martin Ertl, Head of Audi Design Management, traveled to Vancouver, where preparations for shooting were underway in order to absorb the world I, Robot [1].

Designers, technicians and engineers have had only ten weeks to build the model, based on some recommendations of Alex Proyas [2]. In July the Audi RSQ is completed and brought on the sets of the film, where she remained for several months [1].

Design and technology

Although it is certain that this concept car will never be produced, it nevertheless draws stylistic codes of the brand, like the Single Frame grille which are affixed on the rings, the logo of Audi. The RSQ abandons the conventional wheels in favor of "spheres" to levitate and is equipped with butterfly doors [3].

The body of the Audi RSQ, painted in a pearly tone "gray lunar taking golden hues depending on the direction of light, is fiberglass. Inside, the Audi RSQ gives, according to the manufacturer, the impression of being in a cockpit equipped with bucket seats [4].

Regarding the engine, no information has been released except that it is located in a central position [4].
