





The Chevrolet Corvette is a sports car manufactured by Chevrolet American brand since 1953. It is manufactured in Bowling Green, Kentucky, which also houses the National Corvette Museum. Previously it was manufactured in Flint, Michigan and St. Louis, Missouri. It was the first sports car built by Chevrolet.
There have been six generations of Corvette so far, ranging from C1 to C6 generation and different versions with different functions within each generation, the C6 generation includes the ZR1, which is the most powerful engine used in the production of a Corvette to date. Over the years, versions of the car has won awards from magazines like Motor Trend and Car and Driver, and organizations like the Society of Automotive Engineers and has been used over the years as the safety car Indianapolis 500 since 1978.
Thus there are six generations of this American sports: C1 (1953-1962), C2 (1963-1967), C3 (1968-1982), in 1983 there was no model, C4 (1984-1996), C5 (1997-2004 ), C6 (2005-present). The base C6 Corvette has 442 hp, the Z06 512 hp, 650 hp and the ZR1.
It was designed by Harley Earl and presented without much reception on 17 January 1953, why it almost did not go into production.
Although sold under the Chevrolet brand in the United States and elsewhere in the world, also sold under its own brand Corvette in Europe and Japan, where the car is quite rare. The car is built in coupe and convertible versions, the possibility of a sedan version has also been considered by GM executives.
In 2008 a Corvette C6, driven by Antonio Garcia won the 24th Le Mans in its class.
