The Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione is a sports car from Italian manufacturer Alfa Romeo. It's a mid-engine two-seater with front and rear drive. Prototype was presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2003, and began selling in 2007. The 8C Competizione is the first Alfa Romeo sports rear wheel drive from the Alfa Romeo SZ.

The 8C Competizione takes styling cues from Alfa Romeo models of the 1930s and 1940s. The name "Competizione" refers to the Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 Competizione, which finished third in 1949 and 1950 editions of the Mille Miglia. These 6C 2500 models were the last Alfa Romeo akin to the pre-World War II.

In the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, 2005, was presented the Alfa Romeo 8C Spider, a convertible version of the 8C with different alloy wheels. Production of the 8C Spider was confirmed on 25 September 2007 by Sergio Marchionne, and also confirmed that the 8C Spider will be sold to the public. The 8C Spider will be built over 500 units probably [1] and cost about € 20,000 more than the coupe version.

In 2008, the 8C will take part in three races of resistance: the 24 Hours of Le Mans, 24 Hours Nürburgring and Daytona 24 Hours. It is expected that the chassis of the racing version is manufactured by Dallara.

During the Paris Motor Show 2006, Alfa Romeo announced it would build 500 units of the 8C Competizione. The production version is very similar to the prototype, and the body is made of carbon fiber.

The model uses a modified platform from the Maserati Quattroporte and Maserati Quattroporte. The petrol engine is an eight-cylinder V 90 °, 4.7 liter engine and dry sump lubrication. Maximum develops a power of 331 kW (450 hp) at 7000 rpm and maximum torque of 480 Nm at 4750 rpm. The red line is at 7500 rpm, and the limit of 7600 rpm.

The gearbox six-speed has computerized gear selection via levers behind the steering wheel, and can be used in five modes: Manual-Normal, Manual-Sport, Automatic-Normal, Automatic-Sport and Ice. The gearbox takes 175 ms to shift gears in both sports anyway. The 8C Competizione is also a limited slip differential.

It is equipped with 20-inch wheels and tires specially developed for this model: 245/35 front and 285/35 rear.

Road & Track magazine cataloged the brake system of the 8C as "phenomenal", with a stopping distance from 60 to 0 mph (97-0 km / h) of 105 feet (32 m). The official top speed is 292 km / h (181 mph), but the magazine claims that may be closer to 190 mph (306 km / h).

The Alfa Romeo 8C Spider is based on the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione, production is limited to 500 units and is manufactured by Maserati in Modena (Italy). Its retail price is around € 180,000. The production version of the 8C Spider was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in 2008.

The V8 engine of the Alfa Romeo 8C Spider is made of aluminum cylinder head has dual overhead camshafts and, like the coupe version, develops 450 hp, top speed is 290 mph, is 2 miles below Maximum speed coupe version. The carbon-ceramic brakes 8C Spider are manufactured by Brembo. The hood of the 8C Spider is folded and displayed electronically and has a double layer of fabric.
