Lexus LF History

The Lexus LF line is a series of concept cars built by Lexus, the luxury vehicle division of Toyota Motor Corporation. "LF" uses the L-Finesse, [1] a specific address Lexus design. The design language of L-Finesse is first introduced in the LF Series concepts and has spread to all new cars in the Lexus lineup. The LF Series vehicles include three coupes / convertibles: the LF-A, the LF-A Roadster, and the LF-C, two cars: the LF-S and LF-Sh, and two crossover SUVs: the LF-X and LF-Xh. These key design features of new vehicles derived from the philosophy L-finesse "intriguing elegance" , "incisive simplicity" , and "Seamless Anticipation" . [2] new vehicle technologies including advanced instrumentation, multiple driver selected vehicle configurations, hybrid propulsion systems and experimental designs and unconventional driver interface. [3] [4] The concept vehicle first in the series LF, the LF-X, appeared in 2003. Several of the LF concept vehicles have appeared near their production counterparts, while the key design concepts more clearly LF appeared in different production vehicles.

The LF-A is a 2-door exotic concept car built as a potential halo car for the Lexus division. Three versions have been shown, which debuted first in the 2005 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS). This concept was about five inches shorter than the Porsche 911 Turbo (996) with a wheelbase of about nine inches long and almost 48 inches (1,200 mm) in height approximately equal to the Ferrari F430 with a width of 73 , 2 mm (1,859). It was powered by a V10 engine displacement below 5.0 liters, generating over 500 hp (373 kW) and had a top speed around 200 mph (320 kph). To maintain an ideal weight distribution near a rear transaxle and radiators are used are mounted on the rear. [5] A second revised version, with a more fully furnished interior and exterior was released two years later at the NAIAS 2007 as a possible future member of the Lexus brand performance F alignment. The interior gauges revealed a 9000 RPM Redline, however, this can not make the production version. [6] The third version of the LF-A concept, a roadster model, was released in 2008.

Reports indicate that the LF-A concept car has received the green light for production. [7] Prototypes of the LF-A has been spotted regularly tested at the Nürburgring since October 2004 [8], the famous motor racing track in Nürburg, Germany [9]. Numerous test vehicles have been equipped with automatic retractable wings and rear brake discs carbon ceramic. [10] The production vehicles are expected to carry V10 engines, [11] [12] that the car market in competition with the Lamborghini Gallardo, Ferrari F430, Porsche 911 (997), and the Chevrolet Corvette C6 ZR1. The price is estimated at more than $ 225,000, [13] and about $ 400,000. [14] In December 2007, Auto Express reported that the LF-A has set an official lap record 7:24 at the Nurburgring. [15] [16]

The Lexus LF-C Lexus is a concept car presented at the 2004 New York Auto Show. This concept appears a retractable hardtop design which allowed for coupe, convertible, targa, or Speedster configurations [19] through a glass ceiling of four positions. The designation means Lexus Future-Coupe. [20] The LF-C is equipped with a V8 engine and rear drive. Its unique features include a touch activation button, crystal LED taillights, suede seats, a 3D instrument panel, drive-by-wire controls, and a translucent crystal center console with blue backlight. [21] The LF - C also appears stabilizers view cameras instead of side mirrors on the doors and rear bumper.

Rumors persist that the evidence that LF-C in the general direction of design for the new generation Lexus SC. You can, however, hint at the convertible version of the IS 250/350. Design cues from the LF-C, particularly in the front fascia, appeared in production form with the debut of the second generation Lexus IS.
