BMW Z4 vs. Porsche Boxster: Which to Buy?

The clear winner here is Porsche Boxster because of its powerful engine and high-class braking system.

BMW Z4 vs. Porsche Boxster: Which to Buy?

Both BMW and Porsche are one of the leading automobile brands when it comes to luxury. Moreover, both companies have launched several race cars over the years, which have made quite a name on the track. However, when it comes to conducting a side-by-side comparison of some of the car models produced by these companies, it becomes utterly strenuous.

Today, we are going to do just that and compare Z4 from BMW and Boxster from Porsche.

A little Overview you should know:

Both BMW Z4 and Porsche Boxster have the same 2-seat convertible design, alloy wheels, electrically powered steering, paddle shift, and cruise control. Moreover, both of these cars are equitably comfortable and have rear cameras, sensors, and an infotainment system. However, some significant differences make one car stand from another.

What is the Difference Between These Two Cars?

Some of the primary differences between these two cars are specified below.

Engine & Speed

When it comes to speed, both are some of the fastest cars that you can purchase. The Porsche Boxster (base model) offers a 300-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter flat-4 engine. With Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK), the 718 Boxster accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.9 secs and has a top track speed of 170 mph. Which makes for a thrilling drive whenever the roads become twisty and less traveled.

On the other hand, Z4 from BMW also has a 2.0L flat-four petrol-based engine. However, it is rated at 255 Brake Horsepower. Which makes the Z4 progress from 0-60 mph in 5.2 seconds and have a top track speed of 155 mph. It’s also more practical than you might expect, with good interior space, a roomy trunk, and good fuel economy for a roadster.

Transmission

Each Boxster comes paired with a truly satisfying 6-speed manual transmission, but buyers can opt for Porsche's clairvoyant 7-speed automatic. Every Z4 has an 8-speed automatic transmission with Sport mode as well as Manual mode. Notably, the 2022 BMW Z4 is not available with a traditional manual transmission with a clutch pedal.

What Should You Buy?

The clear winner here is Porsche Boxster because of its powerful engine and high-class braking system. The 718 Boxster may not have the cachet of Porsche's iconic 911 sports car, but its focused chassis and lively nature make it hard to beat among other drop-top sports cars such as the BMW Z4 and the Audi TT.

The BMW Z4 Handling isn't as Porsche Boxster sharp, but it's close enough and still plenty fun on a twisty road. The Z4 is available for more than $10,000 less than the competing Boxster. If you like the idea of a fun BMW roadster, the Z4 is also a delightful and luxurious drop-top 2-seater.

The Bottom Line

The above-specified are the differences between BMW Z4 and Porshe Boxster, and which one you should consider buying. You can check their features and select one which suits you the best.
