The logo, or "Holden lion and stone" as it is known, has played a vital role in establishing Holden's identity. In 1928, Holden's Motor Body Builders appointed Rayner Hoff to design the emblem. The logo refers to a prehistoric fable, in which observations of lions rolling stones led to the invention of the wheel.

Holden logo was evolved in times like other existing car logos in the market. It shows a solid illustration of a roaring lion maneuvering a wheel. It was in its name whom the quality of a lion was shown, being a king and fearless animal. These qualities are also similar to other car logos in the automobile world. Holden cars are looked as a king of the road. Although a small division of GM, the Holden logo never fails to compete with other big-time car logos.
