Asphalt 8 vs. Asphalt 9: Which is better?

Overview

Asphalt 8 and Asphalt 9 are the two most anticipated racing games. Both these games earned huge respect in the gaming community. Asphalt 8 was released on August 22, 2013. After its release, it became the favorite racing game of the year and it was absolutely loved by the players due to its graphics and extraordinary gameplay. After the success of Asphalt 8, Gameloft released Asphalt 9 in March 2018. It was the successor of the previous version with a lot of improvements and additions.

If you compare both games then you will find them very similar to each other however there are many differences in both versions. If you are curious to know the differences between asphalt 8 and asphalt 9 then you are on the right page. In this article, we will compare both games will let you know how they differ from each other.

What’s The Difference?

There are plenty of differences between both games. Let’s have a look at them.

1. Graphics

Both games got popular in the market due to their intensive graphics. Both of them offer quite good graphics as compared to other racing games. But, if you compare them with each other, you will find that asphalt 9 offers slightly better graphics as compared to asphalt 8. The game is a bit larger in size and the company really worked in improving the graphics in asphalt 9. This is the reason that the game may be a bit laggy on mid-range devices.

2. Physics

Asphalt 9 has more realistic routes than Asphalt 8, but they both have almost the same physics. While taking a turn or driving through terrain or pavement, your speed will be lower. The only way to perform flat spins in Asphalt 8 is to drift off of a cliff, while in Asphalt you can press the brakes twice anywhere to perform flat spins.

3. Nitro Use

Normally, nitro does not work in the air with Asphalt 8, but it is possible to use it in the air with Asphalt 9. Four stages of nitro are used in Asphalt 8. Blue stage one, yellow stage two, purple stage three, and perfect nitrogen stage four. There are four phases to Asphalt 9. Yellow stage one, red stage two, nitro shockwave, and perfect nitro.

4. Multiplayer

Asphalt 8 has a voting system that allows you to choose routes, laps, and race modes for multiplayer races, but Asphalt 9 does not have one.

5. Controls

In asphalt 9, Gameloft added a touch drive. Simply select the route, apply nitro or brake, and the car will drive itself.

Which is Better?

Although both games have minor differences like seasons and cars, I would recommend trying both games. Both of them have their pros and cons. If you compare the overall performance of both games then asphalt 9 is slightly better as compared to asphalt 8. It is because it is the latest version of the game with plenty of improvements. It offers overall smooth gameplay and there are plenty of bug fixes that provide it with an edge over asphalt 8.
