Assetto Corsa vs. Competizione: Which is Better?

Assetto Corsa offers a real-world feel, while Assetto Corsa Competizione tends to focus more on serious racing.

Assetto Corsa vs. Competizione: Which is better?

Overview

Kunos Simulazioni developed two driving simulations called Assetto Corsa and Assetto Corsa Competizione. The simulators, however, are set up to achieve vastly different goals and, as a consequence, are very different.

The main focus of Assetto Corsa is on simulating a wide range of vehicles and disciplines - from the Fiat 500 Abarth cruising through the Scottish Highlands to the LMP1 cars racing along the Mulsanne Straight. The unique driving experience of AC appeals to players of all skill levels, so everyone can experience the sensation they seek.

Assetto Corsa Competizione is centered on the Blancpain GT series and the Spa 24 hours, aiming to simulate GT class racing. With this game, you are given the impression and feeling that you are racing world-class GT drivers in a PvP setting.

What’s The Difference?

Reading the name of both games, one might think that they are the same. But as discussed earlier, the two games are vastly different from each other. Let’s take a look at how these games differ from each other:

1. Game Engine

The game engine plays a key role in any game since it is the backbone that all the code is built on. Basically, this will determine how the game can apply physics, graphics, and so forth.

Developed by Kunos themselves, Assetto Corsa runs on a custom game engine. In terms of the game engine, the goal was to allow the development of physics systems with plenty of customization.

With Assetto Corsa Competizione, created by Epic Games, a highly focusing, detailed, and complex simulation was created using Unreal Engine 4. Both simulators differ in their game engine, resulting in different experiences for users.

2. Physics

When compared on the surface, they share a range of similarities. In terms of details, there are some differences. Both games were built on the same physics but we see plenty of improvements in the Competizione. It provides you overall smooth gameplay with more details.

3. Tracks And Cars

The simulator experiences are largely determined by the tracks and cars. In addition to the different car selections between Assetto Corsa and Assetto Corsa Competizione, there are also different track layouts. The car content on some of these pages overlaps, but the reason for the choice of topics and the level of detail on each should be noted.

4. Multiplayer

Due to the vast and complex multiplayer experience in both games, Assetto Corsa Competizione and Assetto Corsa have both been such huge successes among fans and racers. You and your friends can have a lot of fun while racing together, drifting, cruising, and cruising as if you are all driving together on the road. But the multiplayer experience of both games is vastly different from each other.

5. Adjustability

The car dynamics can be adjusted in a variety of ways within the two games. With Assetto Corsa and Assetto Corsa Competizione, you can adjust a wide range of settings for each car, including suspension damping, camber, and toe angle, fuel loads, and aerodynamics. They do, however, differ in a few small ways.

Which is Better?

To conclude, Assetto Corsa and Assetto Corsa Competizione serve very different audiences and offer a great driving experience. There are often overlaps between the players of each, but each has advantages and disadvantages.

In comparison to Assetto Corsa Competizione, Assetto Corsa offers a real-world feel but fails to convey the finer points of actual driving. Assetto Corsa Competizione tends to focus more on serious racing, and is more advanced.

They are both excellent simulators, and both must be experienced by any person interested in sim racing. Both games are the best. It all depends upon the user’s preferences.
